Paige: Unbroken CarGo a lucky break, Sunday slumps a troubling trend

CargoodtoGo.

The chalk scribbling on the blackboard in the Rockies' clubhouse was: "Bus leaves at 5:45. Waiting on Cargo."

At 5:30 p.m., with the motor running outside, Carlos Gonzalez, a yellow hospital band on his left wrist, walked in, did a quick run-through in the Car-wash, dressed at his locker, showed a teammate his contusions — bruises — and said: "I'm good."

The Rockies loaded their precious CarGo for the trip to Atlanta.

The Rox season looked like it was over at 3:40 p.m. (and it might be, anyway.)

Royals catcher Brayan Peña lasered a beam toward the farthest spot in the ballpark — 415 feet away, just beneath an evergreen. Sprinting full speed, Gonzalez simultaneously caught the ball and hit the wall. "Best defensive play of the year," manager Jim Tracy said — to the scariest moment of the season.

CarGo's right hand, with the glove on it — struck first, then his left hand, then his face full-on. "As hot as that wall was" Sunday, in oppressive heat, "I'm surprised he didn't stick to it," Tracy said. He wasn't joking.

Gonzalez sprawled on the field — and was surrounded by players, the trainer and the manager. The holiday family crowd of 40,269 was hushed, just as we all were on another day when Jorge De La Rosa was injured.

Trainer Keith Dugger examined both wrists, Gonzalez's leg and his head. They got on a cart, and Gonzalez was taken out the left-field tunnel, into an ambulance and to a Denver hospital for X-rays.

The Rockies didn't need a bad break of this kind. Since moving to center and into the leadoff spot, CarGo had become the club's offensive and defensive catalyst once more. He slashed two more hits — including his 13th home run — and surpassed 50 RBIs on Sunday, and moved to within four percentage points of a .300 batting average.

If CarWent, the RoxGone.

The good news was: no break.

That was the only good news on a staggering, stumbling, stifling Sunday.

"The worst all year," Tracy acknowledged.

The Rockies lost 16-8 to the Royal pains in the grass. Despite winning Friday and Saturday against K.C., the Rockies still haven't swept a three-game home series.

Sunday is StunDay.

The Rockies have won half as many games on Sundays as the Broncos did on Sundays last season.

The Broncos won four Sunday games.

And they didn't lose 11 in a row on Sundays.

Safety Day another hit with Dundee kids

Lutzow said that once the kids are out running around and talking to officers and firefighters, they really connect with them and view them as friends. “It's really fun for the kids to come out and climb on the trucks or into the ambulance,” Lutzow

25th December 2010 | A Day That Changed My Life - The Epic Blog ...

Its been over 6 months now and I still think about that day every hour of every day for I found out at 8am that morning my 62 year old mother has passed away! Picture the scene I turn up at her house that morning only to be greeted with the sight of 3 ambulances and 4 or 5 police cars also the house was blocked off with police tape everywhere. Inside I find my Dad distraught and my brother upset as they were in the house during that night it happened!

So what did happen well I still don’t know as the inquest into my mothers death is this coming Wednesday, all we know is that my mum came home in a taxi the night before at 10 and the driver watched her goto the door and the next morning about 6.30 her neighbor found her lying in 3 foot of snow. so why this post about her then?

Well 3 or so years ago I started blogging at phillipdews.com which eventually changed to InternetMarketing-101.co.uk  and is now called TheEpicBlog the reason being I wanted to build this up to be one of the UK’s most well known blogs to help people start a career in blogging as well as help my future but most of all to provide my mother with an enjoyable retirement. Of course that did not happen and now today I am dedicating this blog to my mothers memory which after six months I think is quite apt, should have I dedicated it sooner perhaps yes well better late than never.

The Effect that my mothers death had on me was quite profound, it made me realize that our lives are short and we should all try and make a difference as after you have gone its your reputation that is left behind, I also fell into a life of drinking more, self-doubt and not looking after myself, I even contemplated giving up this blog. but im happy to say that after 6 months life is getting better and im drinking a lot less.

I still think my proudest moment was the fact that i helped carry my mothers coffin into the chapel and stand up and talk about her if front of 600+ family and friends. So in ending I just wish to say that you should look after your mother as you only have one and also think about what you will leave behind when you have gone!

Love You Mum and miss you every day!

Thanks for reading!
