This week familiar products with summer themes jumped out at me while shopping in the local supermarkets.
Chips Ahoy has a limited edition of red, white and blue chips. The colored chips taste the same, but gives the cookie an Americana look for July 4 and the rest of the summer. The price is the same as the original ones, but the weight has been reduced.
Coca Cola has cans with sunglasses, surfboards or flip flops for June and will introduce kites and baseballs in July. What fun to pop open a can decorated with flip flops while you are sitting at the beach or around someone’s pool. It seems these cans are on its way to become collectors items and are being auctioned off on eBay.
Corona has a beach getaway sweepstakes on some of its bottles with a chance to win a trip to Mexico for two. Kleenex has put photos of waffles piled with ice cream on the triangular boxes it used last year for watermelon and orange slices. Miller’s has introduced MGD64 Lemonade, a low-calorie beer with a hint of lemonade to keep you cool and refreshed this summer. The 64-calorie beer will only be available through Labor Day.
