The Jaguar XF is beyond a crowd pleaser

DALLAS,  June 4, 2011 — What’s not to like about a Jaguar?  In my book, that includes any Jaguar, but in this case, it’s the Jaguar XF, specifically the XFR.  It’s just got that aura about it, and, lest you even have to ask, its performance not only keeps up, but sends the competition reeling.

Competition, in fact, that includes the midsize luxury sport sedan class and options like the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E63 AMG, does not even stand a chance.

First things first though: Take a look at the red console button on the console and the gear selector, a bit different since its red and circular, and ready to take on the road.

I drove the supercharged option, the XFR, but overall, this Jaguar offers a V8 engine in any trim, and is easily a step above.  Sporting handling and performance makes this particular Jaguar a crowd-pleaser; beautiful on the inside and out.

Since this is not a new entry into the market, the folks at Jaguar still made a few changes for 2011, including the fact that the entry model’s 4.2-liter V8 is now a 5.0-liter, with a Jaguar Drive Control Dynamic mode. There is also the availability of a heated windshield on all the trims.

With four trims to choose from, you can start with the XF, the XF Premium, the XF Supercharged or the XFR, which is the one I drove and found much to my liking. For the entry level, there’s the 18-inch wheels, halogen headlamps, rear parking sensors, a sunroof, automatic headlights, automatic dual-zone climate control, keyless ignition, leather upholstery and heated 10-way power front seats with driver memory functions.

Take it up one notch to the XF Premium, and you get the Vision package with 19-inch wheels, bi-xenon auto-leveling headlamps, heated and cooled front seats, leather-trimmed dash and door trim, wood trim choices, and keyless ignition and entry.

The XF Supercharged has a supercharged V8, 20-inch wheels and quad tailpipes. You can also opt for cruise control, heated windshield or, on the motherlode Jaguar XFR, there’s not only the supercharged engine, but also 20-inch wheels, adaptive suspension and a limited-slip rear differential.

With some additional package options, you will find the Portfolio package with the 20-inch wheels, 16-way driver and 12-way passenger power seats, climate control and a heated steering wheel. Keep in mind too, the window shade, heated steering wheel and 19-inch wheels that are also stand alone options on the base XF, if you so choose. The Premium stand alone options are the additions of adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel and windshield, and a rear sunshade.
