SALTON SEA Seismologists say the ground beneath Californias largest lake is riddled with earthquake faults.It is 227 feet below sea level and is one of the lowest points on Earth. It is bordered by the San Andreas Fault which is the dividing line between the Pacific and North American plates.
A study by the Scripps Institute of Oceanography has revealed an assortment of smaller faults associated with Southern Branch of the San Andreas which is most likely to trigger Californias big one.
