George Foreman Gives Political Advice on the Budget Impasse

NEIL CAVUTO, FBN HOST: Now on "Cavuto." (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANNOUNCER: Debt meetings heating up, the big guy stepping up but with prices up and consumers clamping down, GOP presidential candidate Gary Johnson on whether a double dip is going to bring the president down.

GARY JOHNSON, PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: That day of reckoning is here. It needs to be fixed.

ANNOUNCER: Just as the car companies start bouncing back. The government with a new plan that's going to set you back big bucks. Governors fighting unions better be able to take a punch. The champ who says they can't be (INAUDIBLE). George Foreman is here. Grab your ringside seat, the next hour is going to have lots of hits.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CAVUTO: All right. Well, consumer spending down, inflation up, double dip maybe here. Welcome everybody, I'm Neil Cavuto. Here's the deal, forget next week's fireworks. I can tell you now this recovery is looking like a dud. Folks spending, adjusted for inflation, declining at tenth of a percent. That's for the second straight month in May. And the stuff they are spending on is costing more. Yet another inflation number that is moving up. The personal consumption expenditure index increasing two- tenths of a percent on the month, contain to hear the Federal Reserve tell it but not exactly average folks grocery basket hear them tell it. I haven't even gotten to some of the more worrisome foreclosure news.

And reports today of a whole new wave of them that are on the way. No wonder today the president very engaged just wrapping up a meeting with Republican Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell. In fact those meetings are still going on. So in a moment, Rich Edson on how that went down.

Back to the economy that is just looking down. With today's news, talk about a summer bummer. Everywhere you look, more signs of recovery that could be going in reverse. Housing, lending, buying, not happening. And those budget talks in Washington, not promising. Tonight a presidential candidate who said it is time to throw the old playbook out and put the spending trouble down. But wait until you hear what Gary Johnson wants in their place. To the former governor who wants to be president in a second. To Rich Edson on this busy Monday for the guy who wants to stay president now. Rich, what are we learning from these meetings.

Don Imus Comeback Most Likely On WPLJ-FM

For those millions of fans that can't seem to get their morning started without the wry comments of Don Imus, their wait, at least in the New York area might be coming to and end. For months now, rumors have been circulating that Don Imus might be making a "Big Apple" comeback at WABC, but my guess is that WPLJ-FM would be a better fit for the I-man. Also, WABC already has a very popular morning show and I don't think management will be eager to upset that already winning show. Every time I write about Don Imus I get email and blog comment posting from his many fans. Most people that love Don Imus are quick to defend him against the charges of racism by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson that brought down his radio show at CBS along with the cable television simulcast on MSNBC. Whether I agree with most of what Don Imus says and does is not important compared to the right he has as an American to go into the marketplace, find a radio station or network that is willing to take a chance on him and start the whole Imus in the Morning Show all over again. I still believe that Don Imus made a mistake when he used those ugly words on the radio about the Rutgers Woman's basketball team, but in comparison to other things I have heard on the radio over the years, the Imus' comments were mild in comparison. I have followed the career of Don Imus' in New York going all the way back to the 1970's when he was the king of NYC radio ( click here to listen ). In recent years, the Don Imus audience has dropped considerable since those glory days, but there are still millions of fans that just can't get enough of the I-man. While I have no inside information about the future plans of Don Imus, I will venture a guess as to what will happen next with his career. First, I believe his show will be picked up in he NYC market by WPLJ-FM and shortly thereafter one of the big satellite radio networks will pick up his show and offer it nationally on one of their channels. The world of syndicated radio is a different animal than the wide open wild west mentality of satellite radio, so the fastest way to get Don Imus heard, nationwide, would be through a satellite radio network. The good news for Don Imus fans is that their wait for the I'man's return is almost over and I must admit I am interested in hearing how and if Don Imus changes his on-air delivery after being off-the-air for the past several months.
