Arizona businesses reaching out to Wallow fire victims
Supermarkets Inc. across the state -- Bashas’, Food City, AJ’s Fine Foods and Eddie’s Country Store -- are helping raise money for victims.In partnership with the Salvation Army, Bashas’ is collecting funds to help those displaced and otherwise affected by the fire. All of the money will go specifically toward helping Wallow fire victims, officials said.
During each transaction, customers will be asked if they would like to donate $1 or more to the effort.
• The Hotel Valley Ho is offering a special rate for those who have had to evacuate because of the fire.
The rate is $75 a night or $499 per week for a signature guest room at the downtown Scottsdale resort.
Those wishing to book under the evacuation rate are required to show valid, state-issued identification from towns under pre-, partial or full evacuation orders. Those currently include Nutrioso, Alpine, Greer, Springerville and Eagar. Reservations must be made by calling 866-882-4484.
• Jennifer Whittle and others at the Lavidge Co. , a Phoenix-based marketing agency, have been collecting pet food and linen donations to be given to an effort being led by Hands & Paws. Whittle said leaders at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa also have contributed to the effort, donating sheets, towels and bath mats to help animals displaced by the fire.
“I am planning to deliver all of this to Hands & Paws. There are animal centers up there that are just overloaded and are setting up satellite animal care facilities,” Whittle said.
